family summer glamp
Although camping lets you be one with nature, roughing it isn’t exactly the relaxing, enjoyable vacation we want. Plus, all of us parents are far overdue for a little vacation and personal TLC. After all, we’ve been juggling multiple careers and roles for months with very little downtime to ourselves. How can we make this work now that most traditional summer camps have shuttered their doors for the season?
Enter the innovative, new summer glamps offered by RH Travel Design’s partner, ID Travel Group. They have crafted a summer camp program where families can book a getaway at more than 20 destination resorts, mostly in the U.S., complete with a private camp counselor to keep kids busy all day. Among the resorts that have signed up so far are Amangiri in Utah, the Resort at Paws Up in Montana, Montage Palmetto Bluff in South Carolina, the Chatham Bars Inn on Cape Cod, and Watch Hill in Rhode Island.
The idea is to provide families who usually vacation in summer while their kids are at camp an all-inclusive alternative that allows for social distancing and personalization. In essence, the best of both worlds all in one place, safely.
Families can choose to have their kids participate in pre-designed programming, or book a private counselor to develop customized activities to keep the kids busy throughout day. Meanwhile, the adults can enjoy their own activities, spa & wellness programs, and simple R&R while the kids are “at camp”. You can also opt for private dining options, such as a private chef for in-house cooking or delivery from the resort restaurants.
